‘Joe, Are You Listening?’ is the new single from Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Astles. The track was written for the artist’s late uncle, and is filled with tender emotion. The track is just two minutes long, but in that time establishes an almost lullaby sensibility that creates a gentle bed for Astles’ thought-provoking and deeply personal lyrics. “This song is an attempt for me to communicate the importance my uncle has had in my life, despite me being only two when he tragically lost his life,” says Astles. “When I heard the opening sample from the song on my uncle's original tape, it was so haunting. It felt like some sort of message. I became more determined to tell his story in some way, or just honor the family we are a part of.” The track is taken from Astles’ upcoming debut album, Soundtrack For The 21 Bus Home, which drops on May 30th, 2025. -Dan Peeke
